This page explains and serves as a general purpose guide to the @Recruiters role at Ferrous Core, its purpose and functions, reference resources, and FAQs.
Recruiters are a helper function at Ferrous Core who assist the admins with roster management tasks, including:
Administration and "helper" functions at CORE are a position of service. We're providing a community, an environment, and service therein to other people. When we commit to doing something, we want to do it in a timely and efficient manner, and in support of each other as teammates and friends.
But remember, CORE's principles apply to everyone; that we're here to play games and have fun, and that real life comes first. Both still apply to our Helper functions. We don't expect you to be perfect, and we don't expect you to drop everything to deal with a newcomer in #landing immediately. We try to have as many "Recruiters" as possible so that if you're busy with the real world, there's still reasonable and effective coverage through normal Western Hemisphere waking hours. If a mistake or a miss happens, it happens, call it to attention so we can fix it and move along.
We absolutely will not have people "helping out" as a mask so that they can have a personal power trip. If you want the Recruiter role because it gives you added Discord permissions or imaginary internet points/power, then you've missed the point of our community as a whole.
Discord, for all its advantages, does not give us the capability in-application to keep a persistent record of CORE users over time. For that reason, even though we designed CORE with minimal barriers to entry, we have the intake process as a form of "registration" as one would encounter in a forum-based community. This is accomplished via a Google Form which feeds a spreadsheet, the "Membership Tracker" spreadsheet, which acts as a book of record of all CORE users including their Discord and in game IDs, a contact email, and any administrative notes. This spreadsheet is also used by Recruiters for validating (Ctrl+F) in game usernames when approving clan join requests.
Because effective administration of CORE relies heavily on the accuracy of that spreadsheet, any newcomer joining Ferrous Core must have an entry in this book of record spreadsheet. If someone is uncomfortable providing information in the intake form for any reason, the Recruiter can proceed with bringing them in, however at bare minimum their age, Discord ID, and relevant in game ID must be collected for manual entry into the spreadsheet by an Admin.

Just some final onboarding advice:
- The LFG channels ( #d2-lfg , #div-lfg , #misc-lfg ) are the place to go for quick "anyone wanna do X?" type asks. See also our Discord guide for advice on channel navigation and tuning your notifications: https://wiki.ferrouscore.com/discord
- Highly recommend joining our the100 group for your game, we use our the100 groups to schedule raids and other content in advance. You can learn more via our the100 usage guide: https://wiki.ferrouscore.com/the100
- We'd also recommend hanging out in the social voice channels whenever you play, a lot of our fireteams form organically just by folks hanging out and helping each other.
Any questions or issues, just speak up or feel free to message any admin (yellow names) any time! Welcome aboard!
In-game clans can be found on the supported game portal pages. As a recruiter you're encouraged to obtain approver access for whatever clan you are a part of, so @ the relevant admin or recruiter in your clan to grant that access.
Minimum Age: 18+
Language: English (conversational at minimum)
All public postings of CORE to date, e.g. LookingForClan, Reddit, etc, include a quick explanation of our requirements and intake process. However, CORE's primary means of recruitment since the start of 2018 has primarily been word of mouth, members and newcomers to Ferrous Core pulling in friends and acquainances behind them. Therefore, it's likely you'll encounter newcomers in our Discord unsure of how to proceed with gaining access to the rest of the server.
The flow for welcoming new auxiliaries should be as follows:
;wc @username- this will kick off the Sethlans flow.
@Recruitersto let you know. From there, ask if they have any remaining questions, and do the usual welcome in #general.
In addition to FAQs, we'll explain a few uncommon use cases you may encounter regarding newcomers to our Discord and access roles.
The Friends of CORE role is for friends of CORE members or non-member friends of the community who need or would like access to CORE social and game channels essentially as a long term guest.
Generally, the need for provisioning the Friends of CORE role has been much reduced by the addition of "Pub Fireteam" Channels under the landing. These are for use by CORE members bringing in pick up, public LFG players, or friends for a game or two.
You might encounter newcomers who are initially unsure about whether CORE is the right community for them. In those cases, feel free to grant them the Friends of CORE role and let them know they've got the run of the place, and if they like what they see they can ping
@Recruiters again to formally join in.
If you determine that a user is under the age of 18, you must apply the
Under18 role to their Discord ID. This is a control to prevent underage users from viewing the nsfw channel categories. No exceptions.
While CORE's requirements are that users should be 18 or older to participate in this community, we have granted exceptions before to a handful of individuals between 16-18, especially when they're being referred in by an existing CORE regular. If they don't know anyone in CORE, but you feel confident by their attitude that they may be a good fit, you can bring them in as an exception.
If the newcomer is under the age of 16, they are too young to participate in this community and are to be politely turned away.
Cases may also exist where adult CORE auxiliaries or regulars who have children may ask for their children to be granted Discord access in order to play with them, or to help grant them a sense of belonging.
We do generally allow this type of exception given that there is parental consent, but please make the following clear to them. We want to ensure that they understand that our users, while generally respectful, do not routinely filter themselves as if children were present. Once that's clear, we grant the children the auxiliary role as normal, and make a manual entry in the spreadsheet.
If someone is uncomfortable providing information in the intake form for any reason, the Recruiter can proceed with bringing them in, however at bare minimum their age, Discord ID, and relevant in game ID must be collected for manual entry into the spreadsheet by an Admin.
